Pardee describes his artistic style as Brightmares in which he uses the creation of art to overcome his anxiety disorders and emotional struggles. The figures are often unsettling, elongated, or contorted which is juxtaposed with cheery bright colors. This print was from the private collection of a curator and gallery owner from Los Angeles, who has a collection of artworks ranging from Barry McGee to Picasso. Dimensions: 22h x 17w (unframed).
Alex Pardee (1976- ) is an established contemporary artist and is best known for illustrating the Used’s album artwork. In addition, he has been commissioned by Hurley, Twenty Twenty Skateboards, and Kid Robot to name a few. Pardee was part of the creative collective Zerofriends, a group of California based artists, including Tara McPherson, Craola, and Dave Correia, who were known for creepy inspired art inspired by classic horror movies. The hip hop artist Justin Bua described Pardee as a prolific artist whose imagination is populated with wicked, warped, and wacky characters that walk a tightrope between playful and grotesque. His artistic world inspires all artists to not only strive for greatness, but more importantly, to have fun.
