I wanted to capture this grace in glass.” Includes and plexiglass cover with black base for displaying protection. From a private collection, purchased from Riley Hand Galleries in 2000. Dimensions: / Box Dimensions: 13.75”h x 12.5”w x 12.5”d. In excellent condition. Dale Chihuly is an American glass artist and entrepreneur. He is well known in the field of blown glass, “moving it into the realm of large-scale sculpture.” Chihuly is one of the most influential glass artisans in the 21st century for his innovative methods and ideas. In 1971, with the support of John Hauberg and Anne Gould Hauberg, Chihuly co-founded the Pilchuck Glass School near Stanwood, Washington. Chihuly’s eye was injured in 1976 which caused him to step away from the glass-blowing pipe and he hired others to do the glassblowing. Chihuly's role has been described as “more choreographer than dancer, more supervisor than participant, more director than actor.” Chihuly is best known for site-specific installations in public spaces; a few examples include Chihuly Over Venice Italy, the Space Needle in Seatle, Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. His art appears in over 400 permanent collections all over the world, including in the United States, Canada, England, Israel, China, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia.
